Day-long Workshop on Professional Skills Development for Non-Academic Officers Held at Premier University.
A day-long workshop titled “Professional Development for Non-Academic Staff” was organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Premier University with the aim of enhancing the professional skills of non-academic officers. The workshop was held on Saturday, 07 February 2026, at the GEC Circle campus of Premier University.
The Honourable Vice Chancellor, Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir, attended the program as the Chief Guest. The Resource Person was Professor Dr. Tanvir Mohammed Hayder Arif, Professor of the Department of Banking and Insurance at the University of Chittagong and Director of the Research and Publication Cell.
Among others present were Registrar Mr. Mohammed Iftekhar Monir, Director of IQAC Professor Dr. Shaheed Md. Asif Iqbal, Additional Director (QR) Ms. Tanzina Alam Chowdhury, Additional Director (ETL) Mr. Gazi Shahadat Hossain, and Proctor Mr. Mohammed Solaiman Chowdhury.
In his speech, Vice Chancellor Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir stated that, alongside academic excellence, ensuring administrative efficiency and professional ethics is extremely important for a university. He emphasized that non-academic officers are the backbone of the university’s daily operations, and their skills, discipline, punctuality, and humane behavior form the foundation of a modern and quality university management system.
He further noted that the workshop was not merely a training activity, but an important initiative to strengthen responsibility, professional pride, and service standards. Enhancing the skills of administrative staff helps create a supportive and student-friendly environment for both students and teachers.
Professor Dr. Tanvir Mohammed Hayder Arif conducted three important sessions titled “Professional Ethics and Etiquette for Enhancing Productivity,” “Intensive Interaction and Communication,” and “Files and Document Management.”
In his remarks, he stated that professional ethics and courteous behavior are not only part of an individual’s identity but also play a significant role in shaping the overall image of an institution. He added that effective communication and interpersonal skills help increase the efficiency and productivity of administrative staff, while positive and professional behavior with colleagues, teachers, and students ensures a healthy working environment.
He also mentioned that systematic file and document management is the foundation of an efficient administrative system. Proper record keeping and information management save time and effort and make decision-making more dynamic and transparent. He further emphasized the need for administrative officers to master modern documentation techniques to preserve institutional knowledge and ensure smooth information flow.
Non-academic officers from the university administration, various faculties, and departments actively participated in the workshop.
